Cafes in Cirencester

Swan Yard Cafe – 6 Swan Yard, West Market Place, Cirencester, 01285 641300
Lovely, homey cafe serving tasty and generous meals and snacks.  There is an outdoor terrace upstairs.  Can get very crowded during lunch-time but outside peak times, staff are very helpful to parents with small children.
Pros: Very breastfeeding and child-friendly.  Good value food.
Cons: When busy, it can be a struggle to get prams in and another struggle to get upstairs with food, baby and highchair.
If you’re feeling shy: It can be quieter upstairs.  Downstairs, head to the right where you can face away from the cafe.

Brewery Arts Cafe – Brewery Court, Cricklade St, Cirencester, 01285 657 181
Stylish cafe within the revamped Brewery Arts Centre.  Drinks and cakes available all day with a small selection of delicious options for lunch.
Pros: Happy hour on hot drinks form 9-10 am during the week. Very tasty food.  Books available to read to children.
Cons: Can get very hectic at lunch and during the weekend.  Little space to move a pushchair around.
If you’re feeling shy: It is a little quieter at the small back tables by the lift.

Costa – 14 Cricklade Street, Cirencester, 01285 642248
A branch of the national chain serving light snacks and drinks.
Pros: Good sized coffee shop serving wide selection of drinks.  Plenty of room from prams.
Cons: Food is of a reliable quality but not freshly-prepared.  Can be very crowded when schools are out.
If you’re feeling shy: try for one of the comfortable armchairs.  There is also another branch at the back of Waterstone’s, which has some small tables to the side of the counter.

Oddfellows – 14 Chester St, Cirencester, 01285 641540
Friendly neighbourhood pub with a separate dining room and a big garden.  The food is good value and Sunday lunches are especially delicious.
Pros: Sunday lunch.  Huge garden with plenty of play equipment and picnic tables with umbrellas from which to watch.
Cons: Only two highchairs.  Small children might get a bit stir crazy if the weather is poor.
If you’re feeling shy: The dining room is usually less crowded.  There are plenty of tables in the garden, if it’s fine.

Van in the Park – Abbey Grounds
Excellent value snacks and drinks in the lovely Abbey grounds.
Pros: Plenty of space for older children to run around.  Tasty fairy cakes.  Very nice spot on a sunny day.
Cons: The food is basic – more of a pick-me-up during the day than a place for a leisurely lunch.
If you’re feeling shy: Pick from any number of comfy spots under the trees.

Jack’s – 44 Black Jack St, Cirencester, 01285 640 888
Popular cafe next to the Corinium museum.  Serves a good selection of cakes and pastries throughout the day as well as very good lunches.
Pros: Easily the best cakes in Cirencester.  The food at lunchtime is excellent, too.
Cons: Very little space for pushchairs – you will usually need to fold it up.  Chairs can be uncomfortable for long feeds.
If you’re feeling shy: The atrium area to the left is usually quieter – there are tables to the back that face away from the bustle of the cafe.
