Current Vacancies at GBSN

GBSN currently has the following three vacancies:

  • Administrator
  • Data Collection Officer
  • Book Keeper

At present, one person holds all of these roles and you may apply for one, two or all three of the above positions.

These are all self-employed positions with the successful candidate(s) taking responsibility for invoicing GBSN for their services and dealing with their own PAYE or other tax arrangements. Candidates must have their own computer and appropriate software. (For the bookkeeper role, Sage will be provided).

The positions are expected to start in mid-February, following a handover meeting with the current post-holder.

Administrator (approximately 10 hours per month)

  • Providing administrative help and support to the trustees
  • Organising and attending 8 meetings per year (please note some of these will be during evenings)
  • Liaising with groups and the Trustees regularly
  • Answering telephone calls and responding to messages
  • Responding to and fielding emails to the appropriate person
  • Writing minutes and sending out to trustees, keeping a record of minutes
  • Maintaining an archive of files
  • Helping with the organisation of events
  • Keeping a peer supporter record
  • Keeping an updated list of contacts for trustees and specialist workers
  • Keeping contact with peer supporters and specialist workers/GBSN Groups

Rate – £9 per hour.

Data Collection Officer (approximately 7 hours per month)

  • Collating and presenting data on a quarterly basis from the weekly monitoring sheets
  • Providing figures from the data to support funding applications and marketing materials
  • Updating our database of contacts using the monitoring sheets

This is not an exhaustive list.
A good knowledge of Excel is essential for this position.
Rate – £9 per hour.

Bookkeeper (approximately 5 hours per month)

  • Responsible for maintaining GBSN’s financial records by accurately recording the day to day financial transactions of the charity.
  • Check and verify source documents such as invoices and receipts
  • Allocate and post financial transaction details to the general ledger
  • Reconcile and balance all accounts
  • Draw up financial statements (e.g. income & expenditure statements)
  • Collate and analyse account data and generate financial reports
  • Maintain internal control systems
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Prepare cheques, bacs payments and bank deposits
  • Assist the Treasurer with budget preparation
  • Maintain complete filing system to support financial records
  • Liaise with the Accountant and assist as required in the preparation of the annual financial accounts
  • Attend Trustee meetings as required to assist the Treasurer in reporting on financial matters

This is not an exhaustive list.
Experience with Sage 50 Accounts and Excel is essential for this position.
Please note that at certain times of year, this position may take up to 10 hours per month to fulfil.
Rate – £10 per hour.
