Save Our Support Groups

On 1 April 2010 NHS Gloucestershire stopped all funding to GBSN support groups. These funds were crucial to the ongoing survival of our support groups.

Gloucestershire is unique in Britain for having a network of weekly, drop-in support groups run by trained peer supporters in conjunction with a specialist worker. These groups provide encouragement, support and information in a confidential and non-judgemental way for all mothers who attend. Without our groups mothers will need to rely more heavily on Gloucestershire’s hospital midwives, community midwives and health visitors, all of whom are currently stretched for time and resources.

There are many ways in which you can help. Please visit back over the coming weeks for further information or contact Rachel Bray at info@gbsn.org.uk.

  • Contact your MP and let him or her know about the impact that any group closures will have on mothers in their constituency.  Details of your MP can be found on the They Work For You website.  And they can be contacted by post at the House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA.  Please feel free to use elements of this letter, which was sent to the MP for the Cotswolds.
